Auto Specialties recommends these pulleys be installed by a qualified mechanic.

You are receiving two parts, but removing one. A new balancer pulley and underdrive pulley.

1. Remove water bottle and fan.

2. Remove crank bolt.

3. Remove belt.

4. Use pulley puller (harmonic balancer puller) to remove crank.

5. Place grease on outside and inside of new balancer snout.

6. Install new balancer without the new pulley. Use balancer to push new balancer on.

7. Apply Loctite Thred Lock #242 or equivalent to threads on bolt. Tighten to 80ft. lbs.

8. Apply Loctite Thread Lock #242 or equivalent to 8mm bolts to hold on new crank pulley that will attach to the harmonic balancer.

9. Bolt to harmonic balancer, torque to 45 ft./lbs. or hand tight.

10. Reinstall fan, water bottle and install new Gates belt K060966.

11. Inspect belt to make sure it is properly seated in all pulley grooves. Turn on vehicle and check to make sure pulley installation does not wobble.

When removing the stock harmonic balancer and putting on the new harmonic balancer, look to see if the new hamonic balancer matches the stock harmonic balancer. Some of the 99-00 3.8 have the balancer for the 2001 on them and vice versa. If you find that the new harmonic balancer does not match the stock balancer you will have to get it exchanged for the correct one. 99-00 3.8 Mustang Balancer 2001 3.8 Mustang Balancer
