Auto Specialties recommends that these pulleys be installed by a qualified mechanic.

1. Loosen alternator nut and four water pump pulley bolts. An air impact wrench with a swivel will be required to remove alternator nut.

2. Remove accessory belt, then alternator and water pump pulleys. The factory belt is retained so leave belt around radiator hose.

3. Remove smog pump belt which is the middle belt.

4. Remove crank pulley noting direction of timing mark.
NOTE: Before installation of crank pulley, pull out the balance pins on the stock harmonic balancer.

5. Install new crank pulley with timing mark in same location as stock pulley was.
NOTE: Bolts will not install if correct rotation is not found.

6. Reinstall smog pump belt, water pump pulley and alternator pulley. Water pump spacer plate need not be reinstalled if supplied. NOTE: If alternator pulley will not clear supercharger flange connection, remove upper alternator bracket bolt and loosen lower bolt. Push alternator toward engine until alternator pulley slides onto shaft.

7. Reinstall accessory belt. Insure clearance between belt around water pump pulley and tensioner pulley. A sheet of paper can be used as a gauge for clearance. If paper can slide through the 2 pulleys then you should have enough clearance. Additional clearance can be produced by loosening tensioner center bolt with belt installed. Retighten once you have done this.

8. Once all pulleys and belts have been installed inspect for proper belt alignment insuring that new installed pulleys do not wobble from improper installation.
