99-03 FORD LIGHTNING

Auto Specialties recommends that these pulleys be installed by a qualified mechanic.

ENGINE MUST BE COLD. ASP RECOMMENDS THAT PULLEY INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL BE DONE BY QUALIFIED TECHNICIANS ONLY. ASP ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGES THAT MAY OCCUR DURING REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION

1. REMOVE AIR INLET TUBE AND MOVE TO SIDE.

2. REMOVE BELT AND BOLT ON SHAFT.

3. INSTALL PULLER AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 1.

4. TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO APPLY PRESSURE TO NUT CLOSEST TO PULLEY. USE ANOTHER WRENCH TO KEEP OUTER WELDED NUT FROM TURNING.

NOTE: DURING INSTALL, THE WELDED END OF THE INSTALL SHAFT MUST NOT TURN. IF IT TURNS YOU WILL BREAK OFF THE PILOT SCREW IN THE BLOWER SHAFT. TWO WRENCHES ARE REQUIRED TO PREVENT THE TIGHTING OR UNTIGHTING OF THE INSTALL SHAFT. 5. LOAD UP PULLER UNTIL PULLEY POPS. THIS WILL ALLOW TIGHT REMOVAL FROM SHAFT.

6. INSTALL NEW PULLEY WITH SMOOTH OR FLAT SIDE TOWARDS RADIATOR.

7. USE FIGURE 2 FOR INSTALLER CONFIGURATION.

8. PRESS ON NEW PULLEY. IT WILL BE A TIGHT FIT ALL THE WAY ON. PULLEY WILL INSTALLED CORRECTLY WHEN SHAFT IS FLUSH WITH PULLEY.

9. REINSTALL ALL FACTORY BELT.

10. REINSTALL AIR INLET HOSE.

ON LATER 2000 TRUCKS, EATON HAS ENLARGED THE CASTING AS WELL AS GOT IT OUT OF ROUND. CHECK YOUR BLOWER SNOUT CASE AND IF IT LOOKS OUT OF ROUND, YOU MAY NEED TO REMOVE SOME OF THE EXTRA ALUMINUM. THIS IS RARE BUT HAS HAPPENED. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE EXCESS ALUMINUM, THE PULLEY WILL NOT GO ALL THE WAY ON AND WILL LOCK UP WITH THE CASE. THIS PULLEY IS NOT DESIGNED TO BE INSTALLED AND REMOVED MORE THAN ONCE. REMOVEL WILL DISTORT THE PULLEY SO IT IS INOPERABLE. ASP WILL NOT WARRANTY FOR DEFECT OR FAILURE SINCE THE PULLEY IS DESIGNED THIS WAY. ENJOY THE EXTRA POWER!
